Shifting from Patriarchal to Matriarchal Systems

Continuing our series based on “Empaths Shifting into 2012: A Telesummit to Help Energy-Sensitive People Understand Their Spiritual Role on Earth” we present an article derived from Kate Garvey presentation. You may obtain the full transcription and MP3 audio of Kate’s and Gini Grey’s presentations at http://weare1inspirit.com/spiritual-audios.htm#Kate.
We are going through times where we are seeing a shift from a patriarchal to a matriarchal system. When we speak of these, we can associate them with men and women but we all have both aspects in us. The patriarchal system is one that I think of as a pyramid. The documentary, I AM (http://iamthedoc.com/), talks about how in a patriarchal system, the person who is most physical is at the top of the pyramid at the expense of every person underneath. What happens in this system is that those who are more vulnerable are crushed or they die. They cannot hold up the weight of that pyramid so they fall to the bottom.
I think of the matriarchal system as a circle system where there is consideration for every person and each person has an equal voice and is an important part of that. As a society, we have come from a very patriarchal system where knowing the answer was the right thing to do rather than being okay with the unanswered question or to rely on gifts of intuition. Instead, we have gone through a very linear, greed-based system such as banks, government, and stock market. These systems are going through shock and crumbling. The stock market is a fear-driven system. We put money into a system because we want to be able to take care of ourselves when we reach a certain age such as retirement age rather than putting our love and energy and time into the young people in our community or “global village” where we will be valued and cared for as elders. These are two very different ways of taking care of people as they age. One is built on self-sufficiency and the other is built on community.
Wellness and self-care coach, workshop leader, and founder and director of the Institute of Sound Healing.com, Kate Garvey has been active in Native American ceremonies for several years and recently sang for the Grandmothers Gathering led by Ana Shana Bee. Anyone who signs Kate’s guestbook at www.instituteofsoundhealing.com will receive a free mini e-book, The Empathics Guide through Grief.  MP3 topics include self-care, sound healing, the shift, and the grief process.
