Like Father (Mother) Like Son (Daughter) and So Forth

If you are an empath, more than likely some members of your family are empaths are as well. With no training on how to use this gift and manage energy, you know it can seem like a curse. That's because empaths are natural healers even though many don’t know it. They take energetic burdens from others in a subconscious attempt to heal them by transmuting (converting) the detrimental energy into beneficial energy. If you want to stay well and emotionally fit, you must do this transmutation with the help of your higher guidance and ascended masters. There is no need to use your body as a punching bag.

As humanity and Earth is moving through a shift in consciousness, all kinds of family secrets are coming to the surface to be healed, transmuted, and integrated. Those who don't want to deal with their stuff may try to blame their misery on someone else. Don't be fooled by family members who are trying to dump their stuff on you!

You (and your family members) may be remembering childhood issues that have been repressed for many years. Everything is coming to the light. You may be hearing voices in your head. These are the forces of darkness (ego, separation) trying to prevent this healing and transmutation from happening. Don't worry. The Light is greater than darkness. Rather than paying attention to those negative voices that try to make you believe you are weak, focus on the fact that you are a being of light having a human experience intended to develop your soul and help you master the right use of energy.

Affirmations coupled with sincere feelings will help reprogram your mind to accept and act upon higher truth. I’m writing a new book that is going to help take empaths through the 2012 shift and beyond by offering exercises, suggestions, and tips for raising your vibration, healing your past, and standing in your new and empowered identity. In that book, I will teach how to anchor yourself in the place of heart-centered peace through conscious breathing.

Crown Chakra

An empath asked him the following question: “I’ve been experiencing a lot of crown chakra activity. I was told that it had to do with the upcoming ascending or dimensional change.  What is your take on that and how I could further prepare?  I just started having these symptoms within the past three weeks and they have intensified.  My physical body and unconscious mind are not aligned right now.”
Michael replied: “We’re all having these experiences our crowns are opening even if you have not done anything intentional to open it.  It is most likely being opened and these are called “ascension symptoms.”  There are things you can do to cope with that. I would say that the short answer would be to learn how to become even more grounded.

Illnesses and Empathy

During the telesummit, Dr. Smith was asked, “What do you notice about illnesses and empathy?” To which he replied:
It has been my experience that I’ve noticed, noticed is a word that is helpful for us to use as empaths, the question, what have you noticed.  One of the things that I’ve noticed in working with people we have some common empath clients, to put it that way, we have some commonalities in our experiences about our physical health.  One of the things that I have noticed in working with people is we tend to have illnesses or diseases that are similar to fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, some people use an older term which is Epstein bar. These are basically terms that medical science uses to describe a series of symptoms lumped together that they actually have no idea the origin, what creates these illnesses for the most part.  They are kind of shooting in the dark in terms of treating these again, for the most part, big generalization, right that’s just helpful to answer your question here real quickly.  So if you are going to describe these diseases in another way the origin of these diseases one of the ways you could describe it might be to describe it as the human nervous system overtime becoming over tasked through perceiving through the nervous system itself perceiving energy of other people. 
So as empaths that is one of the main things that we do, we’re around people, we perceive them.  Now in addition to perceiving the energy of other people I would say that we’re also in general very energetically sensitive that means, another way of saying that energetically sensitive is that we have seven major chakras in our nervous system in our body.  Chakras can close up and when they close up we can feel ungrounded.  Because our vibration lowers every time those chakras close we take in less prana, we take in less chi, we take in less energy because the valves close.  Over time the nervous system learns that as an empath they close down to protect us from the perception of energy.  The nervous system itself believes it’s doing us a favor and in many cases it might be.  It’s just that overtime chronic closing of our valves leaves us feeling completely drained.  It’s an attempt to get us to change our behavior and that behavior is to get us to stop engaging so much with other people until we learn to raise our vibration and bring in more light to combat (so to speak, I don’t like to use that word), until we can combat to lower vibratory energy that we perceive in other people.”

Disengage to Ground Yourself and Slow Down Your Hectic Vibration

The third tool covered in Michael R. Smith’s presentation is to disengage. During the presentation, Dr. Smith asked us to do an experiential exercise either with our eyes closed or to physically walk over to the nearest appliance or electrical outlet that has some kind of appliance connected to it.  For 15 seconds we just listened to the hum produced by electricity.  There’s something humming in our walls or environment all of the time.  The refrigerator is the appliance that uses the most electricity and creates the most vibration, which is not particularly helpful for us. The alternating current runs through us and around us, and most of us spend our day inside surrounded by four walls that contain an electrical current.

Electrical current over time leaves us ungrounded. The alternating current alternates between a high polarity and a low polarity. It’s like riding a rollercoaster all day because we’re constantly going back and forth between a current that is up and a current that is down.

Now if you think of the vibration of the Earth.  It’s very slow. Imagine in your mind’s eye the vibration of clouds in the sky.  Do clouds move? Do you ever really see clouds moving at a break-neck speed?  Probably not. Most clouds have a very slow vibration, slow movement to them, representing the vibration of that of the Earth, which vibrates at a frequency around approximately 8 cycles per second.

The vibrational frequency of the alternating current in your walls is between 50 and 60 cycles per a second, much faster. Because it’s a quicker higher vibration it tends to leave us feeling ungrounded. That’s the vibration that many of us walk around the Earth in. No wonder we feel rushed. Everything is quick, quick, quick!

Empaths’ Words Manifest Quickly

What if we empaths are here on Earth to help clean up the messes of the past?  What if it is our role to heal others and to move into a higher vibration? 
Guess what? It IS the truth! Therefore, any time you call forth your highest self you are calling in more spiritual energy than you had prior. That same process is happening everywhere on Earth. There’s a higher spiritual vibration today than there was yesterday. 
Every thought and every word that comes out of your mouth is a prayer or an act of creation. That’s because as empaths we’re good manifesters. You may have noticed that manifestation is happening quicker for you lately.  I know I have and many of those who follow the comments on Empaths Connection or some of the other forums for empaths.  This is related to the shift in 2012, which is short hand for the human brain to understand that something is happening, perhaps what some people might call ascension. It’s a big fancy word for spiritual vibration increasing on Earth. 
One way to more quickly manifest what you are asking for which is to be clear on your intent and remove negative words from your vocabulary. There are certain words that could be banned from use.
No Ban Words is represented by this acronym: NBW. 
Michael led us through an exercise and admonished us to set a goal to eliminate these three words from our vocabulary: Need, but, and why. Need
The word “need” indicates lack.  I need more time. I need more money. I need. I need. I need.  You might as well be saying to the universe “I exist in a state of lack.  Do you hear me speaking this to you? I lack power.  I lack money.  I lack this.” And of course we know that whatever is thought or said creates our reality.  
Don’t worry about being perfection—it does not exist.  Perfection is an illusion; so just try to remember to replace “need” with “want” or “desire.”  Want and desire indicate a prayer in which you are asking spirit to give you something. If you ask you shall receive. 
But
The second word we will replace in our vocabulary is the word “but.”  Listen to the energy different between these two statements.  “I’d like to go out with you but I can’t because I have other commitments.” Whenever you use the word but whatever is said immediately before it gets “karate chopped” and you destroy it.  You might as well not even had said it.  So replace the word “but” with “and.”  You might say, “I’d like to go out with you and I can’t date you right now because of other commitments.” The word ‘and’ allows for two simultaneous realities at once. This simple switch will help change your reality. 
Why
The third and final word is “why.” Many of the questions that begin with the word why are usually not very helpful.  In many instances, it tends to be a useless question.  “Why am I having all these problems?” or “Why am I having these challenges in my life?” These can have a whiny vibration attached to it.  Instead of asking why are you having all these challenges/problems, replace “why” with the word “how.”  How questions and always lead you to better answers.  Ask the Universe, “How can I overcome or more past these problems?” or “How can I change and create change in my life?” That leads you to action.

4 Strategies to Cope with Anger in A Healthy Way

Our world is in the midst of an emotional meltdown. People are restless, volatile, our tempers about to blow. Recently, a riveting Newsweek cover story, “Rage Goes Viral” described how from Tunisia to Egypt a wave of rage is rocking the world to create revolutions. Then there are the talk radio ranters, coongressional incivility, and domestic terrorists such as the Arizona shooter. Rage is also prevalent in our daily lives: There’s road rage, office rage, supermarket rage, and even surfer’s rage. Why is rage so rampant? What is the solution?

In my book, Emotional Freedom, I explore the differences between “good” and “bad” anger. Anger can be a healthy reaction to injustice such as cultures fighting to free themselves from repressive regimes. Anger rallies people. It creates energy and motivation to rebel against dysfunctional political or social systems. It also motivates groups to go on strike say, for higher, well-deserved wages or to defend human rights. On a personal level, anger can be good if it’s expressed in a focused, healthy way rather than using it as a weapon to punish or hurt others.

Your Body’s Reaction to Anger

As a psychiatrist, I know that anger is intensely physical and can come from a primal place. Let’s say a colleague double-crosses you in a business deal. You feel angry. Your amygdala (the emotional center in the brain) stimulates adrenaline. You get an energy rush that rallies you to fight. Blood flows to your hands, making it easier to grasp a weapon. Your heart pumps faster. You breathe harder. Pupils dilate. You sweat. In this hyperadrenalized state, aggression mounts. You may raise your voice, point accusingly, stare him down, grimace, flail your arms around, verbally intimidate, barge into his personal space. Taken to an extreme, you could literally be driven to knock him out or beat him up. In a pure survival-oriented sense, you want to dominate and retaliate to protect yourself and prevent further exploitation. Anger is one of the hardest impulses to control because of its evolutionary value in defending against danger.

What factors make us susceptible to anger? One is an accumulation of built-up stresses. That’s why your temper can flare more easily after a frustrating day. The second is letting anger and resentments smolder. When anger becomes chronic, cortisol, the stress hormone, contributes to its slow burn. Remaining in this condition makes you edgy, quick to snap. Research has proven that anger feeds on itself. The effect is cumulative: each angry episode builds on the hormonal momentum of the time before. For example, even the most devoted, loving mothers may be horrified to find themselves screaming at their kids if they haven’t learned to constructively diffuse a backlog of irritations. Therefore, the powerful lesson our biology teaches us is the necessity of breaking the hostility cycle early on, and that brooding on the past is hazardous to your well-being.

For optimal health, you must address your anger. But the point isn’t to keep blowing up when you’re upset rather--it’s to develop strategies to express anger that are body-friendly. Otherwise, you’ll be set up for illnesses such as migraines, irritable bowel syndrome, or chronic pain, which can be exacerbated by tension. Or you’ll keep jacking up your blood pressure and constricting your blood vessels, which compromises flow to the heart. A Johns Hopkins study reports that young men who habitually react to stress with anger are more likely than their calmer counterparts to have an early heart attack, even without a family history of heart disease. Further, other studies have shown that hostile couples who hurl insults and roll their eyes when arguing physically heal more slowly than less antagonistic partners who have a “we’re in this together” attitude.

Still, repressing anger isn’t the answer either. Research also reveals that those who keep silent during marital disputes have a greater chance of dying from heart disease or suffering stress-related ailments than those who speak their minds.

Here are some strategies from “Emotional Freedom” to productively cope with anger in daily life.

4 Tips To Diffuse Anger

1. When you’re upset, pause, and slowly count to ten.
To offset the adrenaline surge of anger, train yourself not to lash back impulsively. Wait before you speak. Take a few deep breaths and VERY slowly, silently, count to ten (or to fifty if necessary). Use the lull of these moments to regroup before you decide what to do so you don’t say something you regret

2. Take a cooling-off period.
To further quiet your neurotransmitters, take an extended time-out, hours or even longer. When you’re steaming retreat to a calm setting to lower your stress level. Reduce external stimulation. Dim the lights. Listen to soothing music. Meditate. Do some aerobic exercise or yoga to expel anger from your system.

3. Don’t address anger when you’re rushed.
Make sure you have adequate time to identify what’s made you angry. A Princeton study found that even after theology students heard a lecture on the Good Samaritan, they still didn’t stop to help a distressed person on the street when they thought they’d be late for their next class. Thus, allotting unhurried time to resolve the conflict lets you tap into your most compassionate response.

4. Don’t try to address your anger when you’re tired or before sleep.
Since anger revs up your system, it can interfere with restful sleep and cause insomnia. The mind grinds. Better to examine your anger earlier in the day so your adrenaline can simmer down. Also being well rested makes you less prone to reacting with irritation, allows you to stay balanced.

The goal with anger is to own the moment so this emotion doesn’t own you. Then you can mindfully respond rather than simply react. You’ll have the lucidity to be solution oriented and therefore empower how you relate to others.

Engage, Remain Neutral, or Disengage?

Empaths are helpers and healers packing a lot of power. We’ve got a lot of gifts and talents. We understand the spirit world. We intuitively get the world of higher vibration. It’s fun and exciting. From the cradle to the grave, empaths seek to have better communication between worlds, between left brain/right brain, between heaven and earth, and between 3D polarities

Presently, we are at a critical stage of spiritual development and many are wondering what the next step might be. Perhaps you want to help other empaths. Therefore, I’d like to share with you from the toolkit of self-care to move you toward becoming a skilled empath. Being a skilled empath takes a lot refinement, discipline, and practice in order to become more aware of your own energy system and yourself.

One of the acronyms that I find helpful is the word “end.” E-N-D.  It stands for the three choices we have when we are presented with any kind of stimulus such as when you are challenged, or someone has presented you with a question, or is asking you to do something. You always have three choices: Engage, remain Neutral, or Disengage.  E-N-D stand for Engage-Neutral-Disengage.


Mastering the use of the word no is one of the first and most powerful steps in becoming a skilled empath. This allows us to consciously choose to engage or say yes only when we really want to.
