Reconnect with Nature

When my husband and I were taking courses through American Institute of Holistic Theology in 2003, we each chose an elective as part of the curriculum. He chose a course in feng shui and I chose mandala art. This proved to be a perfect combination for us. We used the knowledge gained from these studies to create a mandala garden based upon the Chinese feng shui elements of color, direction, and symbols.
Since then, we have built an altar to the Divine Mother in the center of the garden. There, we perform rituals and offer gifts of fruits, flowers, herbs, vegetables, incense, fire, water, stones, shells, and other items to show our love and appreciation for the beauty of nature and the Divine Mother’s protection and ability to sustain our physical lives. The energy in the garden is so strong that I am immediately made aware of the sacredness of the space and do not enter it without being mindful. This special place has no negative energy. Just being in the space seems to clear my entire aura and refresh my body.

I encourage you to create a space in your yard or garden, on your patio, balcony, or deck where you can be alone in nature and connect with the loving energy of Mother Goddess. If nothing else, stand barefoot in the grass for a few moments. A great book to help you learn how to connect to Mother Gaia is Sex and the Intelligence of the Heart: Nature, Intimacy, and Sexual Energy by Julie McIntyre.
