Empaths Feeling Emotions in Traffic

One highly sensitive person I heard from said she if she drove past a serious car accident, she would feel all the emotions that the people involved feel, including the confusion of the person who died. If there is someone in the car with her, she feels embarrassed about crying and having to answer their question, “Did you know someone in that accident?” and explain why she is crying.

Do you get these kinds of empathic “hits” when you are in traffic or driving?

Affirmations For Empaths or Highly Sensitive People

You can release energy that doesn’t belong to you by using affirmations—small but positive messages to the self. They are used as reminders, helping to keep uplifting thoughts at the forefront of your consciousness. Not only is it important to regularly repeat these affirmations, it is a great idea to post them in your work environment, where you will notice them.

What you think about comes about, so be diligent in re-training your thoughts. Affirmations can also create a filter that blocks the detrimental energy of others. Since it is best to make affirmations personal to you, I recommend that you create your own. However, if you're new to this practice, you might enjoy using some of the affirmations I use. Say the affirmations aloud as if they were already true.

I am willing to feel only the energy that is mine, and I let go of all that is not mine.
I receive energy that is of the highest good for me, and I am protected from all other energy.
I keep my auric field at two and a half feet from my body.
My auric boundary is strong.
I hear, see, feel, and sense only the emotional information that is important for me to know and act upon.
I am honored and respected by all.
I am always safe and divinely protected.
Everything I need to know is revealed to me.
I am vibrantly healthy as I carry positive energy and thoughts.
I am abundantly blessed and happy as I express the beauty and creativity of my heart.
I clearly communicate my needs and take the time necessary to appreciate my own energy, know my true self, and grow spiritually.
I attract only kind and gentle life lessons and relationships into my life.
I understand the divine plan for my life. I have passion and energy to fulfill it with joy!

I would love for you to share your experience as an empath to let us know how affirmations work for you.

There are some MP3s you can listen to on my website: https://weare1inspirit.com/meditations-for-spiritual-growth if you would like to check them out.

Clairaudience and the Highly Sensitive Person

Clairaudience has to do with clear hearing. A clairaudient person may pick up an energetic impulse from another person’s thoughts and hear it either internally in their mind or as an audible voice. Many Bible prophets, including Jesus Christ, had this ability.

A highly-sensitive person has keen abilities to sense energy. Many of them are able to hear things that are inaudible to others such as hearing the thoughts someone is thinking, or hearing voices in their own head. It’s easy to see why our society, which believes in the Newtonian theory that only what can be experienced with the five senses is real, tends to label a clairaudient person as having a mental disorder. Most empaths function at high levels and have very good common sense. They simply have an ability that others “think” is abnormal. And you know what happens then? Religions, cultures, families, the media, etc. believes that if something can’t be explained, it must be avoided, criticized, or exorcized!

Rather than fighting your gift, learn to use it as a spiritual tool. Check out Whose Stuff Is This? ~ Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You. Is Being Empathic a Blessing or A Curse?

Is being a highly-sensitive person a blessing or a curse? It depends upon who you ask and whether or not that person has learned how to manage emotional energy.

Sandy, a mother of two boys, talked about experiencing severe emotional distress (able to feel everyone's emotions simultaneously and very strongly) since she was eight years old, and she said it keeps getting worse. Her grandmother, who was also empathic, died before she could teach Sandy how to manage the gift—actually, Sandy called it a curse that she never wanted. She couldn’t go anywhere or be around people and she hated her life. Her two sons are also empathic and she doesn’t want them to end up miserable. Sandy no longer recognizes her own feelings. This is so common among empaths that I am dedicating an entire chapter to help you determine what your own energy feels like. Sandy also mentioned that the only way she knew to turn off the emotion was to be cold and unloving. This is a temptation to many empathic people, but because we are so loving, it really goes against our grain to treat people unkindly or shut them out of our heart. While we seem to do better living alone, we also have a desire to help others and have close relationships. There is a way to remain open without being unloving—it’s called detachment.

Explore this concept in my book, Whose Stuff Is This? ~ Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You. Highly Sensitive People May Communicate with Ghosts

When I stopped using my own energy to offer healing to others, the empathic attacks lessened, but I was still able to see and hear in the spirit realm. Disembodied souls would awaken me during the night and hover overhead, staring at me until I woke up. I heard things no one else heard and I could feel the energy of ghosts around me. I even wrote a book about it, More Than Meets the Eye True Stories about Death, Dying, and Afterlife.

I’ve always been sensitive to the energy of “deceased” people. Jerry, a friend of mine, was fatally stabbed in the parking lot of a Kroger store in 2007 while trying to stop a man who had stolen a purse from a 60-year-old woman. When I heard Jerry had died, I was immediately catapulted into an empathetic episode like I had not experienced since I was serving as an intercessory prayer warrior in the city of Muncie in the mid-1990s. The grief-like energy I was carrying for Jerry's friends and family was so severe that after two days, I finally called on an energy-worker friend to clear me so I could stop sobbing.

After that, I put up some really strong protective barriers to keep from taking on other people's energy, but Jerry didn’t seem to get the message. His spirit hung around me for more than a week following his death. I didn't want to do what he was urging me to do—contact his mom and sister (Dianne) and give them a message from him: “Tell them I am with Mason.” The message didn't mean anything to me. I wasn't sure if Mason was a person, a pet, a bricklayer, or a lodge member. I hesitated sharing this insight because I didn't know how open his sister and mom were to having a stranger give them a psychic message and I didn't want to add to their grief. What if I was wrong and the message had no relevance to them?

However, Jerry was insistent, and at the time, I didn't know how to make ghosts go away. So, I found his mother’s address and wrote a letter giving her the message with my phone number and return address. I didn't hear anything from the family until nearly two and a half years later when I got a letter from his sister, stating that she finally knew what the message meant. He had visited with a friend who was a cashier at the store the day Jerry was killed. Her name was Mason.

Is Being a Highly-Sensitive Person a Blessing or a Curse?

The gift of empathy is a blessing that can seem like a curse when we don't understand how to use it. This intuitive ability to feel energy is actually a divine gift that allows us to use our body as a guidance tool and to know what is energetically going on around us.

The problem is, the body is not designed to run emotional energy--only true feelings (learn the difference between emotions and feelings)--but our world has taught us to meddle in everyone's business but our own and this is how we get into trouble. Other people need to have their own experience in order to learn and take responsibility for what they are creating. You don't need to fix anything for them--only fix what is yours!

I know this is going to sound really strange, but you are the creator of your own reality and life experiences. We've been taught that God imposes his will upon us, but the truth is the Universe/God is going to support you in whatever decisions you make. We are working with energy--everything is energy. If you don't like what you've created, you can create something new starting this very moment.

It's a matter of setting clear boundaries to not allow your energy to roam into the field of another person. Every thought and emotion you send out to another person has the ability to transfer energy to/from them. If you are not putting your own needs first and filling yourself up with God Source energy, then this exchange can make you feel drained by others. Therefore, self-love must be your primary goal. This is what puts you in touch with God and your body, which is the temple or vehicle for Spirit to work through.

If you are having problems managing emotional energy, I would be happy to do some coaching with you. See http://weare1inspirit.com/services/coaching for details.

When Both Partners in a Relationship Are Empaths

Today’s post is the eighth in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

This is an especially vulnerable relationship because whatever one is feeling and picking up from public venues or other people is then shared with the partner and both of them feel bad.
Empaths tend to be somewhat codependent to begin with, so it’s natural to blame ourselves when someone else is upset; or we may try to fix the situation or calm the other person. We fear rocking the boat or making things worse, so many times we absorb our partner’s emotional energy into the cells of our body or the electromagnetic field surrounding our body. These energetic burdens can make an empath emotionally and physically sick. When both partners are empaths, they share this misery to a whole new degree of suffering!

But there are benefits to two empaths being in a relationship. Things can work out well if both empaths recognize what is going on with one another and each is actively pursuing spiritual purification practices to clear the energy from their body and auric fields. It’s when neither partner is diligent about keeping their auric field clear that real trouble manifests. Once each partner understands their gift and begins practicing the right use of energy as outlined in the exercises today and the teachings of this telesummit, you will understand one another better than anyone else on the planet. You both have experienced what it’s like to be dragged down by energetic burdens and now with these new tools, you will be able to remind one another to stay focused on transmuting detrimental energy using purer forms of energy rather than allowing the body, mind, and emotions as a punching bag!

There is no need to wall off emotionally from your partner. You will be able to open your heart to divine love without the fear of getting hurt again. Whenever your protection mechanism urges you to avoid getting too close to your partner, you can remind yourself to be filled with love and light from the sacred heart space. Being filled, you can then allow that love to flow through you without siphoning from your partner to get your needs met. You can enjoy being sexually intimate with him or her because being in close proximity merges your auric fields, which you are both keeping clear. This compounds and intensifies the loving, heightened emotional energy of both partners. If one is carrying negativity, the positive charge of the other partner can lift this by sending it to the flame of St. Germaine.

If you are an empath is it imperative that you manage your own energy regardless of what your partner does. You can remind your partner to practice what you’ve learned today, but you can only carry so much for your partner without it wearing you down. Carrying the detrimental energy that you pick up from your partner is a sure way to lose your own identity, miss your higher purpose, and create more personal suffering and relationship misery than is necessary. Don’t be afraid of setting boundaries with your partner who is not pulling his or her weight in this double-empath relationship. I realize that saying “no” to someone is difficult. We fear that if the person responds with an unpleasant emotion that we will take into our personal auric field. You don’t have to do that.

There are no victims in a relationship. Both partners have agreed at some level to participate in the drama they create. It is up to you to see yourself as an empowered individual with a divine mission to accomplish and to do whatever is necessary to get yourself to a safe and healthy place in life. I’m living proof that you don’t have to allow the gift of empathy to drain you or control your destiny.

In closing, remember to focus on the love within yourself, not on your problems. Anyone can do this by opening to sacred love that resides within their own heart. To know that your soul is infused with love and feel the joy of living in union with the I AM presence brings true healing and a revelation of the ascended version of your soul. In that rendition, the heaviness, fatigue, discomfort, or illness you may be experiencing now does not exist. The energy for helping making this shift is here now.

Clearing Emotional Energy with a Partner

This post is the seventh in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

Let’s look at some of the ways you can help to dislodge and move emotional energy through your own or your partner’s electromagnetic field:

Smudging with Sage

The Native American practice of smudging with sage has proven to be very helpful in removing negativity from a person’s aura or an area or space. This requires the leaves of a sage plant (or rosemary, cedar, or thyme) to be lit with fire in a heat-safe bowl. The smoke of the smoldering embers is fanned in all direction to cover the person or place to be cleared. You can smudge yourself alone or you and your partner can smudge one another.

Grounding and Centering

Including a walk in nature or eating a healthy meal, there are many techniques for grounding your energy. The one I like best is a simple visualization.

Imagine a white beam of light coming from the cosmos into the crown of your head, flowing down through your body and aura, touching every atom in your body before extending from the soles of your feet into the very core of the earth. I also see gold sparkles of light cleansing and clearing my aura. Then, visualize the slow-vibrating, nurturing energy of Mother Earth coming into your feet and up your legs, merging with the cosmic energy in your body and aura before flowing upward and out through the crown of your head. Visualize it in full detail for the first dozen or so times you try this. Once you are familiar with how this feels and works, your subconscious may begin the process automatically whenever you think of grounding and centering.

Adjusting Aura Size

When the electromagnetic field around your body gets too large and you are doing nothing to fill it with light and love, it can become cluttered with all kinds of mental and emotional energy from those around you. After you ground and center, visualize your clean, clear aura (an egg-shaped bubble around your body) slowing drawing in closer to your body. Once you become aware of how it feels to have your aura at about two to two and a half feet (arm’s length) from your body, you will notice when it has roamed into other people’s territory.

Sending Love and Light to Your Partner

Rather than taking on the energy of another person, offer compassion without paying a personal price. Find your heart center and feel the love that is there. Expand it while imagining a ray of pink or green light extending from your heart and a ray of purple or white light shining from your third eye (6th chakra located between your eyebrows). Direct these beams of light toward your partner and filling his/her subtle bodies and physical body. You can do this with anyone who needs healing. This allows you to send rays of healing and loving light to the afflicted person without getting entangled with their mental and emotional issues. Refuse to allow your emotions to engage in feeling what that person is feeling. This is not being hard-hearted; it is using the mental power of your third eye as an intuitive tool rather than using your body and emotions as a punching bag. The third eye resides in a higher dimension. Therefore, you are not using your limited human faculties to do the work of transmutation.

St. Germaine’s Flame of Transmutation

Emotions, feelings, and even illnesses are energetic imprints to which an empath is highly sensitive. Everything is energy. It cannot be destroyed, but it can be changed or transmuted. Together or individually you can call upon ascended master Saint Germaine and his violet flame of transmutation to lift an energetic burden and convert the detrimental energy into beneficial energy.

I visualize detrimental energy being formed into a ball and lifted into the heavens where it is “zapped” by the violet flame of St. Germaine. This flame bursts the energy ball into millions of golden fragments representing love, light, wisdom, peace, joy, and other positive emotions and then falling like a gentle golden snow upon the earth, myself, and the person who was relieved of this energetic burden.

These are very easy exercises, but with diligent practice, they can make a world of difference in your life and relationship.

To the empath, I say: begin these exercises as soon as you realize you are picking up energy that does not belong to you.

To the non-empath partner of an empath, I say thank you for reminding us of our spiritual role and right use of this gift. Your help in serving as a non-judgmental observing guardian is greatly beneficial. However, it does not exempt the empath from doing his/her part in keeping his/her own energy field clear.

When Only One Partner Is an Empath

Today’s post is the sixth in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

Honestly communicating whatever is on your heart and having your partner understand, accept, and show compassion toward you is a legitimate human need. However, most empaths can’t tell you everything that is on their heart and what is really bothering them because they tend to always feel out of sorts and may not know why. They carry much more than their own emotional and mental stuff. When an empath absorbs another person’s emotional energy into the cells of their body or the electromagnetic field surrounding the body, these energetic burdens can make us emotionally and physically sick. Some people don’t even know about being an empath much less what to do about it.  Many couples rarely recognize the connection between the moodiness, bouts of depression or crying—even physical illness of the empathic partner—unless they start to think back and realize that these episodes tend to occur after being in a crowd or around someone who is negative or in need of healing.

To the non-empath partner, the empath seems emotionally weak, mentally unstable, or willy-nilly about what they want in life. What they really want is peace at all costs—most empaths hate confrontation—but they go about trying to create peace by taking on the burdens of others rather than by raising their own vibration and working with purer energies to transmute the suffering around them.

When someone an empath is close to is unkind, it’s natural for the empath to blame themselves. It’s also natural for them or their partner to try to fix the situation or calm the other person. Trying to talk to an empath about what’s wrong in the middle of an emotional episode is probably going to backfire. The empath is already emotionally overloaded and anything the partner does to try do may only add to the burden. It is best to have a plan of action for when your empathic partner is experiencing empathic stress. This is so simple you will be amazed how well it works.

When your empath partner is suffering with compassion fatigue, offer to smudge him or her with sage; send love and light to the partner; adjust your aura size, ground and center your own energy, and remind your partner to do the same.

Heart-Centered Meditation

Today’s post is the fifth in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

The goal of the heart centered meditation that I co-created with Dr. Caron Goode is to reunite your spiritual heart with the Sacred Heart and increase your awareness of the love and wisdom of higher realms. I’m amazed at the peace and calm I feel whenever
I do this exercise.

I affirm that I am centered, aligned and heart wise, and I intend through this focused meditation to open my heart, will, and clear knowing.

Breathing in and breathing out, I am aligning my heart, will, and clear knowing with the alpha and with the omega. I am aligned.

Placing my right hand on my heart and gently inhaling…exhaling… inhaling…exhaling… I focus on my heart center. I go inward to heart… I am in heart, and I rest in my awareness there.

Breathing in slowly… and illuminating my heart, filling up my heart with crystalline white light. With each breath I take, the white light is brighter and whiter, growing and filling my heart.

Centered in my heart and aligned, each time I inhale, I send rays of my white light swirling through my body, around my body, and through the soles of my feet to the earth for a solid, grounded connection.

My heart glows with warmth and wisdom. My heart light beams its brilliance outward, forward, preparing my path. The rays of heart light open doors of opportunity, clear my way, and enhance my clear knowing.

I am centered, aligned and heart wise. I am centered in my heart, aligned in my will and clear in my awareness.

I trust the heart’s wisdom, listen to the heart’s passions, and feel the calm, serene space within.

I Am.

How to Stay Open-Hearted in a Harsh Society

Today’s post is the fourth in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

The heart is the center of health and well-being. When the heart is healed, the body is healthy. As the heart experience changes, so do life’s experiences. Dreams, thoughts, visions, and limitless possibilities birthed from the Sacred Heart are what affect changes that truly serve our wholeness and support the shift we are making as a species.

Not only does the energy of love and joy belong in our heart, so do our thoughts. When thoughts are run only through the mind, we have multiple problems. When our thoughts are run through the heart, we will feel creative, loved, inspired, and peaceful. We have clear direction and make decisions from a place of clear knowing and clear seeing. In the Sacred Heart we have all the resources we need to make our lives enjoyable and easy. It is when we believe and live as if we are separated from this Sacred Heart that we begin to create by default and bring unpleasant things into our lives. The logical mind would have us believe that we don’t have what we need or that there is lack. When we think from a place of heart centered clear seeing and clear knowing, our heart is filled with a deep sense of confidence and trust.

Love is the greatest power there is. I don’t know of anyone who would not welcome the presence of unconditional love into their human experience. Yet, many people avoid the very activities that would bring more love into their hearts. It is natural to commune with whatever we love or hold valuable. If you love watching movies, you may own a huge library of DVDs; if you love walking in nature, you may take hiking trips; if you love cooking, you may often be in the kitchen trying new recipes. In other words, you will arrange your schedule to spend time engaging in an activity that you feel drawn to—even if it is a negative activity such as worrying or feeling fearful. We create experiences that reinforce or fuel a particular emotion. If we honor our connection to the Sacred Heart, we will regularly engage in the experience of going within to be fed by its infinite resources. When you feel a longing in your spiritual heart what you really want is to experience more love. It is not material things or even people that bring us joy and love, fulfillment and satisfaction.

Plugging in to the Sacred Heart reunites the fragmented parts of us into wholeness. Creating from this place of love and communion with the Sacred Heart, we see ourselves connected to all of creation and know that we can confidently create whatever we wish to manifest.

Keeping the Heart Open to Sacred Love

Today’s post is the third in a series of articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given February 14, 2012 by Yvonne Perry in the Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

Your spiritual heart is meant to be open to Spirit. When the spiritual heart is infused with divine love it holds the greatest power there is. When we are connected to our Sacred Heart, we are in a state of truth—we live authentically, and we realize there is nothing to guard against. Our heart can be open to others—not blindly open, but wisely knowing what is safe to let in and what should be avoided. Our heart is open yet we are not worried about being hurt because we understand and listen to our intuition to know what we can trust to let in our heart. By the same intuition we know what doesn’t resonate with our sacred space and what we need to filter out. When we have absolute connection to Spirit we have clear guidance to discern what course to take in any moment.

The heart communicates with us through our feelings and emotions. When the heart is closed to infinite love, it feels abandoned or rejected. When we have these feelings, our heart is telling us that it does not feel connected to its source of nourishment. When the heart has been completely walled off, one may experience all sorts of problems in relationships and the physical body—especially with the physical heart. When we feel this disconnection, remember your heart is sending you a message. It is asking to be infused with love.

We need to love ourselves before we can love anyone else. This self-love comes from the Sacred Heart. When we depend upon a relationship to feel loved, adored, or respected we allow another person to be a receptor of the love we feel in ourselves. If that person is suddenly gone from our lives, we feel lonely or betrayed. This is when we really need to give ourselves unconditional love, emotional support, self-respect, adoration. When that significant person is gone, we must pick up the role they were playing and become our own lover. We put meaning back into our lives by reconnecting with the Sacred Heart and doing or being for ourselves what that partner has been for us. If you are feeling loss, let it serve as a reminder to look within your personal heart and find sacred love.

Connection with the Sacred Heart is the one relationship we can count on to always be there. It dwells within us and it is ours forever. When we feel we are losing someone or something dear to us is not the time to create more separation from Sacred Love, but many times that is exactly what we do. Even though it feels like love is leaving us, it is the other person’s presence, which we have equated to love, that has left us. No one else is in control of your personal experience of sacred love. Being in a close relationship with another person gives us the opportunity to share love that ultimately comes from the dimension of sacred love through the Sacred Heart. We can open to that dimension by expressing love to another person, and we can also experience sacred love without a partner.

How to Open to Sacred Love

Today’s post is the second in a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given by Yvonne Perry in “From Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit” hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

Next, we want to talk about how to activate your heart and connect to the secret chamber of the Sacred Heart where unconditional love abounds. In that limitless place of bliss, you will find everything you have always wanted and needed—everything you’ve been trying to extract from a human relationship. Operating from your personal place of power, you will learn how to allow love to radiate from you so strongly that you no longer absorb detrimental energy from others.

When we look to another person to fulfill us, love us, and meet our needs, we are looking to the wrong source. We are the only ones who can meet and nurture our emotional needs and this is done by connecting to the sacred and secret chamber of the Sacred Heart and unconditional love that abounds there. I will lead us in a meditation to show how to do this. But first, I want to explain the three hearts—the trinity of human spirituality—that each person has:

1. The physical heart supports the physical body. It’s the organ that pumps and circulates blood throughout the body. The physical heart chakra is a reception site for the energy coming from the spiritual heart to us through the etheric heart.

2. The spiritual heart connects us to a dimension of pure, spiritual awareness or unconditional love, which is free of mental and emotional influences.

3. Connecting the physical heart to the spiritual heart is the Sacred Heart (God, All That Is) that supports the electromagnetic energy field of the brain/body. It is where true prayer (or communion with our creator) resides. This is home! The spiritual heart is the center of creativity. It is through this heart that we heal the aspect of ourselves that has known separation. Part of reconnecting with the Sacred Heart is to become aware of your authentic free-spirited self that knows and easily experiences love, peace, and joy. Your soul has not forgotten its union with the Sacred Heart; our human perspective in this 3-D world has caused us to see ourselves as separate from it.

Empaths in Relationships

The next few posts on this blog will be a series of helpful articles for highly-sensitive people. The full presentation was given by Yvonne Perry in the From Fizzle to Sizzle Relationship Telesummit hosted by Live-Spirit.com. You may listen to the entire presentation by clicking the arrow in the player below.

An empath’s innate ability to express compassion often gets them into trouble because rather than simply observing a condition in another person, the empath can actually merges with it or absorbs it into their own emotional or mental field or physical body. Therefore, it’s very important for an empathic person and those closest to him or her to diligently guard their “heart” and maintain a positive attitude. We will also look at how to guard the heart without closing off compassion.

When an empath or highly sensitive person opens his or her heart to another person (even a stranger) and that person responds with negativity, the emotional impact is keenly felt. Being around the energy of a stranger who is simply having a bad day can feel like a dagger driven in our heart. How much worse do we feel when our intimate partner or someone we are close to is unkind toward us?

We want to open our heart to love but we are afraid of getting hurt again. Our fear-based protection mechanism urges us to avoid getting too close. Walling off emotionally from our partner can cause the relationship to plummet. We open our heart to the wrong source when we look to another person to fulfill us, love us, and meet our needs. When that person disappoints or leaves us, we feel betrayed or abandoned. We must look to Source energy within our own heart to find a balance between emotional overwhelm and emotional coldness.

The problem with many empaths–everyone actually–is that we have not learned the correct use of energy. That means setting boundaries while keeping our heart open to love. Since empaths feel energy more keenly, this lack of knowledge creates a bigger problem in their relationships than it does in the general population. Regardless of whether both partners are empaths or if just one person is, learning to manage energy is of major importance to the well-being of a relationship with an empath.

The Purpose of Empaths

Empaths are on the earth to help transmute the negativity of dark forces and bring light and purer vibrations to the world. Their arrival on earth was not accompanied by a handbook to tell them how to do this! I nearly died before I learned the hard way how to manage emotional energy. I want to make it easy on others. There’s no need for all of us to get knocked down before we learn how to stand in our power. That’s why I enjoy making presentations like this one. That’s why I maintain a blog with all kinds of resources to help empaths manage energy. I encourage you to listen to the audio below. Simply click the small arrow in the player to start the podcast session.

And that’s why I wrote and published Whose Stuff Is This! Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You. It is the manual I wish I’d had 20 years ago! I will present some of the concepts of that book today, but I encourage you to invest a few dollars in yourself and your relationship by getting a copy of the printed book or downloading the Kindle/Nook version. It’s also available as an audio book. See the purchase page http://whosestuffisthis.com.
