When Compassion Becomes Toxic

When understanding and caring for others goes overboard, it can violate the energetic boundaries of others; then it is unhealthy because we become enmeshed with that person and we no longer see the situation with clarity. We can get dragged down with the mental and emotional energy and forget to care for our own spirit and body. This is known as codependency.

It's much better to transmute the suffering of others than to become entangled in it. The way to do this is to focus on the God-Light within you rather than seeing the person as pitiful or the situation as impossible. Everything we see in our outer world is a reflection of what is going on in our inner world (thoughts and emotions). We create our own drama for a reason and as long as it serves us to indulge in harmful behaviors, we will continue to do so. This is why so many people come to a "dark night of the soul." The God-consciousness within will either leave us to our own destructive devices or create a difficult situation in order to draw our attention to what needs to be changed in the mind and emotions.

Many people say that empaths can't help from picking up energy. That is a false assumption held in position by the lower self, which wants to keep us in bondage to fear. Empaths can't help from recognizing and sensing energy, but we can and MUST stop allowing detrimental thoughts and discordant emotions to rule us if we are ever going to master our body and ascend into purer consciousness.

I've written a book for empaths: Whose Stuff Is This? ~ Finding Freedom from the Thoughts, Feelings, and Energy of Those Around You (http://whosestuffisthis.blogspot.com/p/purchase-book.html). Chapter 10 teaches highly-sensitive people how to set boundaries with people who want to siphon energy from others. Becoming mature as an empath means learning to wisely manage energy and nip discord in the bud without allowing it to grow from the first emotional impression or mental thought that is stimulated when you encounter negativity.

Shifting into Purer Consciousness ~ Integrating Spiritual Transformation with the Human Experience. (http://shiftingintopurerconsciousness.com). In this book about the end of the age of Pisces, I talk about how to transmute suffering while denying discordant thoughts and negative emotions the right to infiltrate your inner world.
